Shoppers ask AI assistants real, specific questions before they buy. Each one maps to a fact your store either states or doesn't.
Here are seven questions worth answering directly in your product data.
1. Is this a good fit for my specific need?
Shoppers ask for a product "for" a situation. Your data has to state the use case.
Answer it by writing who and what the product is for, plainly.
2. What is it actually made of?
Material is a top constraint, especially for apparel and home goods.
Answer it by filling the material attribute per the Google product data spec.
3. How much does it cost?
Price is a hard filter in most AI shopping queries. No price, no match on a budget question.
Answer it with accurate price in page, feed, and schema.
4. Is it in stock right now?
Availability decides whether an assistant recommends you at all.
Answer it by keeping availability accurate and synced in real time.
5. What size or dimensions does it come in?
Fit and size questions are constant, and image-only size charts don't count.
Answer it with sizes and dimensions in text, not just a graphic.
6. How does it compare to alternatives?
Shoppers ask AI to compare. The model needs specific, differentiating facts to place you.
Answer it by stating the specifics that set your product apart, in the copy.
7. What are the shipping and return terms?
Terms factor into the recommendation, especially as agents start to buy.
Answer it by stating shipping and returns in readable text, not a buried PDF.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know which questions my store fails to answer?
Test five real buyer questions in ChatGPT and Perplexity. Where you drop out, the constraint the query asked for is a fact your data doesn't state. That's your list.
Do I answer these in copy or in schema?
Both. Write the human answer in the copy and mirror it in structured data. When schema and copy agree, the model trusts both and quotes you more readily.
Will answering these help with Google too?
Yes. Direct answers, complete attributes, and clean schema help AI citation and traditional search at once. It's the same readable data serving both.
