ChatGPT skips products it can't read or trust. Here are the six reasons it passes over your Shopify store, and the fix for each.
1. Your product data isn't machine-readable
If price, stock, and specs live in images or load via script, ChatGPT gets nothing. It reads product data and structured markup, not pretty pictures. Put the facts in the HTML.
2. Your content contradicts your schema
When your body copy says one price and your Product markup says another, the machine trusts neither. Contradictions kill trust. Make content and schema agree.
3. It can't confirm availability
ChatGPT won't recommend something it can't confirm you can sell. Missing or stale availability in your Offer data reads as risk, so it picks a store it can verify.
4. Your titles are vague
A model number tells the AI nothing. A descriptive title, what it is, who it's for, names the thing a shopper asked about. Vague titles never get matched to the query.
5. Your page is all boilerplate
If your key facts are buried under navigation, banners, and legal text, extraction scores low and ChatGPT can't lift a clean answer. Increase content density on the parts that matter.
6. You block the crawlers that feed it
Check your robots rules. If you're blocking the bots that gather data for AI answers, you've locked yourself out of the recommendation entirely.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does ChatGPT skip my Shopify products?
Usually because it can't read or trust your data. The common causes are product facts that aren't machine-readable, content that contradicts your schema, availability it can't confirm, vague titles, boilerplate-heavy pages, and blocking the crawlers that feed AI answers.
How do I get ChatGPT to recommend my products?
Put price, stock, and specs in clean structured data, make your content and schema agree, keep availability accurate, write descriptive titles, increase content density on key pages, and allow the crawlers that feed AI. Do those and you become a store ChatGPT can confidently recommend.
Does ChatGPT need my Shopify store to have reviews?
Reviews help because they're a trust signal ChatGPT can weigh, especially as structured Review or AggregateRating data. They aren't strictly required, but a store with verifiable reviews and clean product data is easier to recommend than one without.
