A bad feed makes your store invisible to AI, no matter how good the products are. Here are eight errors we see constantly in audits, and how to fix each.
1. Missing or wrong GTINs
Global identifiers help AI match your product to the exact item a shopper wants. Google's product spec treats them as core data. Missing GTINs make you an unknown quantity.
2. Titles that are just model codes
'SKU-4471' means nothing to a machine. Rewrite titles to name the product, its type, and its key attribute. That's what gets matched to a real query.
3. Empty attribute fields
Blank fields for color, size, material, and compatibility give AI nothing to match on. Fill them. Attributes are how the machine decides your product fits a specific need.
4. Stale availability
A feed that says in stock when you're out teaches AI not to trust you. Sync availability in real time so your Offer data stays accurate.
5. Price mismatches
When your feed price and your page price disagree, the AI discounts both. Keep price consistent across feed, page, and schema. One source of truth.
6. Marketing fluff in data fields
'Premium quality' and 'best-in-class' are unverifiable, so AI ignores them. Replace claims with facts. Facts get used, adjectives get dropped.
7. Broken or low-quality images
Visual AI reads your product images. Blurry, cluttered, or missing images weaken your match. Use clean, well-lit shots and set descriptive alt text.
8. No product schema on the page
Even a perfect feed needs matching Product markup on the live page. Without it, AI reading the page directly has no structured facts to confirm.

Frequently Asked Questions
What product feed errors hurt AI visibility most?
Missing GTINs, model-code titles, empty attribute fields, stale availability, and price mismatches do the most damage because they either break the match or destroy trust. Marketing fluff, weak images, and missing on-page schema round out the list.
How do I check my product feed for these errors?
Run your feed against Google's product data specification and validate a few product URLs in a schema tester. Look specifically for missing identifiers, empty attributes, and any place where your feed price or stock disagrees with the live page.
Do I need to fix every product at once?
No. Start with your top sellers, since they drive most of your AI recommendations. Fix titles, attributes, availability, and schema on those first, then work outward through the rest of the catalog.
