Shopify Summer '26 Editions: The 7 Changes That Actually Matter for Your Store

June 13, 2026

Shopify's Summer Editions landed June 17. More than 150 updates.

You don't need 150. You need 7. Here's the ranked list for a store doing \$500K to \$10M, with a straight adopt-or-skip call on each.

1. Shopify Scripts dies June 30. Fix it now.

Not optional. If you run Scripts for discounts, shipping, or payment logic, it stops working June 30. Migrate to Functions this week. This is the only one with a clock on it.

2. AI merchandising in admin. Adopt, but watch it.

AI collection sorting, predictive cross-sell, a merchandising insights panel. It picks your cross-sells and orders your collections for you.

Turn it on. Then check it against your margins. AI sorts for clicks. You sort for profit. Run it on one collection against your current setup before you let it touch your bestsellers.

3. Checkout Components on Plus. Adopt if you're on Plus.

You can finally customize the information, shipping, and payment steps. Early Checkout Blocks data shows an 8 to 22% conversion lift.

If you're on Plus with a stale checkout, test it. If you're not on Plus, skip it and move on.

4. Native A/B testing. Adopt, with discipline.

Theme and checkout testing without a third-party app. It replaces part of your CRO stack.

Good tool. Just run one variable, enough traffic, a real hypothesis. Easy testing makes it easy to run bad tests fast.

5. Faster storefronts. Adopt by default.

Performance updates ship in the background. Speed helps conversion, and it helps AI crawlers read you. Nothing to do but stay current.

6. POS and local pickup updates. Skip unless you sell in person.

If you have stores, look. If you're pure online, ignore it.

7. Everything else. Skip for now.

The other 143 updates are real. They're not where your next dollar comes from. Don't let a changelog set your roadmap.

The update Shopify didn't ship

Your AI visibility.

Shopify is putting AI into your admin. None of it helps if ChatGPT can't read your store. We audit Shopify stores for AI visibility, and a few weeks ago I found Cloudflare blocking AI bots from our own site. The robots.txt I thought I controlled was not what the bots saw.

We were invisible to AI. The agency that fixes this for a living.

Title, description, category. Those are the three fields the AI shopping engines actually read. Fix those before you touch a merchandising panel.

Want to know where your store stands before the rush? We run a free AI Commerce Audit. It scores every product for how visible you are to ChatGPT, Google AI, Perplexity, and Copilot. Results in 24 hours.
