An AI assistant doesn't quote your brand voice. It quotes a clear sentence it can lift and stand behind. Most Shopify product copy gives it nothing to grab.
I've had a hard time learning this myself. I used to write copy to sound good. Copy that gets quoted by AI is built differently. It's built to be lifted.
Here's how to write product copy an assistant will actually repeat.
Why won't AI quote my current product copy?
Because most product copy dances around the answer. It sets a mood, teases a benefit, and never states a plain fact a model can pull. An assistant reading it finds nothing quotable.
A model quotes sentences that answer a question directly. If your copy never answers one, there's nothing to lift. Vibes don't get cited.
Lead every product with a direct answer
Open with a sentence that states what the product is, who it's for, and what makes it different. Plain and specific. "This is a merino base layer for cold-weather runners who hate the itch of wool."
That sentence can be lifted whole. An assistant answering "best base layer for cold runs" has something to quote. Lead with the answer, then support it.
Write in facts, not adjectives
Swap vague praise for specific facts. Not "incredibly warm." Say "rated to 20 degrees" or "200gsm merino." Numbers and specifics are what a model trusts and repeats.
Name the material, the size range, the use case, the limits. A fact can be quoted. An adjective gets skipped. This is the same reason Google's AI in Search leans on concrete, verifiable detail.
Match your copy to real questions
Write to the questions buyers actually ask. Use question-style headings and answer them in the first sentence underneath. "Does this run true to size? Yes, order your normal size."
That structure maps directly to how people prompt an assistant. When your page already answers the question, the model quotes your answer instead of a competitor's.
Back the copy with structured data
Put the same facts in your Product schema as in your copy. Price, availability, specs. When the words and the data agree, the model trusts both.
That's the read we give stores in a WRKNG audit. Which of your sentences are quotable, which are noise, and where your copy and your data disagree.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why don't AI assistants quote my Shopify product copy?
Because most product copy sets a mood instead of stating a plain, liftable fact. A model quotes sentences that answer a question directly, so copy built on vague adjectives gives it nothing to repeat.
How should I open a product description for AI?
Lead with one direct sentence that states what the product is, who it's for, and what makes it different. That sentence can be lifted whole by an assistant answering a related buyer question.
Do specific numbers really help my copy get cited?
Yes. Facts like exact measurements, materials, and ratings are what a model trusts and repeats, while vague praise gets skipped. Concrete, verifiable detail is what gets quoted.
Should my copy and my structured data match?
Yes. When the facts in your copy match the facts in your Product schema, the model trusts both. Conflicts between the two make it back away from quoting either.
