9 Steps to Get Shopify Products Into ChatGPT Shopping Results

ChatGPT shopping surfaces products it can read, verify, and match to a question. Most Shopify stores fail at least one of those three. Here's how to pass all three.

Nine steps, in order, to get your products into ChatGPT shopping results.

1. Confirm ChatGPT can crawl you

Check your robots.txt isn't blocking AI crawlers. If the crawler can't reach your pages, nothing downstream matters. This is step one for a reason.

2. Add complete Product schema

Give every product valid Product schema with price, availability, and key attributes. This is how ChatGPT shopping reads your facts without guessing.

3. Write titles like buyer questions

Title products the way a buyer describes them, with specs included. "Merino Base Layer, Men's, 200gsm" reads as an answer. A SKU-style title reads as noise and gets skipped.

4. Answer real buyer questions on the page

Fit, compatibility, use case, care. Write the answers into the copy in plain words. When your page answers the question, you become the source ChatGPT quotes.

5. Sync price and stock to live data

ChatGPT won't surface a product with a price it can't trust or stock it can't confirm. Keep both live and matching across page, schema, and feed. Consistency is what earns the surface.

6. Add product identifiers

GTINs and brand data let ChatGPT verify your product is real and match it across sources. Format them per the Google Merchant product data specification. Verified beats anonymous every time.

7. Fill the attribute fields

Material, color, size, dimensions. These are how ChatGPT filters to specific queries. A blank field drops you from that search, so fill them from the real spec.

8. Validate everything

Run your schema through the Schema.org validator and fix every error. Broken schema reads as unreliable and unreliable products don't get surfaced.

9. Test with real prompts

Ask ChatGPT the questions your buyers ask and see if you show up. If you don't, the answer tells you which step above you still owe. This is the loop we run in a WRKNG audit, at scale.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my Shopify products into ChatGPT shopping?

Make sure ChatGPT can crawl you, add complete valid Product schema, write buyer-style titles, answer real buyer questions on the page, sync price and stock, add product identifiers, fill attribute fields, validate the schema, and test with real prompts. Each step removes a reason to skip you.

Why aren't my products showing in ChatGPT shopping?

Usually one of three failures: ChatGPT can't crawl you, your product data isn't readable or verifiable, or your page doesn't answer the question being asked. Test with the exact prompts your buyers use to find which failure applies.

Does ChatGPT shopping use product schema?

Yes. Complete, valid Product schema is how ChatGPT reads your price, availability, and attributes without guessing. Products with clean structured data and consistent facts across page, schema, and feed are the ones it can confidently surface.
