If ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI never name your store, you're probably invisible to them for a reason you can see and fix. Here are seven signs, in the order worth checking.
Invisible doesn't mean bad. It means unreadable. Those are two different problems, and the second one is fixable this week.
What does it mean to be invisible to AI?
It means the model can't read, verify, or trust your store well enough to recommend it. Your products can be excellent and still be invisible if the data a machine needs isn't there.
1. Your product titles read like SKUs
If your titles look like "Item 4471 Blue M," the model can't match them to a buyer's question. Descriptive, buyer-language titles per the Google Merchant spec are the first fix.
2. You have no product structured data
Without valid Product and Offer markup, the assistant has to guess what you sell. It prefers stores it can confirm, so missing schema quietly removes you from the running.
3. Your prices or stock statuses are stale
An assistant won't recommend a product it can't confirm is buyable. Missing prices and out-of-date availability read as risk and drop you before anything else gets weighed.
4. Your pages bury the answer
If your key pages open with intro fluff instead of a direct statement of what the product is, the model has nothing clean to quote. Lead with the answer and you become citable.
5. You have no FAQ or question-style content
Assistants match conversational questions to conversational content. Pages with no question-style headings or FAQ sections miss the exact prompts shoppers actually type.
6. Crawlers are blocked
If your robots rules block AI bots or your sitemap is stale, the model never sees your pages. This is the most common silent killer, and the easiest to check.
7. Your brand naming is inconsistent
When your store name shows up differently across your HTML, schema, and metadata, the model can't build a confident picture of who you are. Standardize the entity so it can connect the dots.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my Shopify store is invisible to AI?
Check for SKU-style titles, missing product structured data, stale prices or stock, buried answers, no question-style content, blocked crawlers, and inconsistent brand naming. Any of these can make your store unreadable to AI assistants even when your products are strong.
Why don't AI assistants mention my store?
Almost always because they can't read or verify it, not because the product is weak. Fix the data a machine needs first: clear titles, valid structured data, current prices, and crawlability.
What's the fastest fix for AI invisibility?
Confirm AI crawlers can actually reach your pages, then fix product titles and add valid structured data. Those three moves remove the most common reasons a store gets filtered out.
