If ChatGPT never mentions your products, it's usually not the product. It's the data. The model can't recommend what it can't read.
Here are the seven reasons I see most, and the fix for each.
1. Your product data is thin
A title and two sentences don't give ChatGPT enough to match. It needs attributes, materials, and specifics. Fix it by filling every feed field with real detail instead of leaving them blank.
2. Your titles are too vague
"Blue Jacket" tells the model nothing. It can't match a vague title to a specific request. Fix it by rewriting titles to carry product type, material, and audience.
3. Your schema is empty or missing
Product schema with no price or availability inside it is a shell. ChatGPT reads structured data first, so an empty one gives it nothing. Fix it by adding complete Product JSON-LD with real values.
4. Boilerplate buries your content
When navigation, popups, and app scripts dominate your HTML, the substance gets lost. The model has to dig for the 200 words that matter. Fix it by trimming boilerplate and raising content density.
5. Your inventory data is stale
If your availability is wrong, ChatGPT and agents stop trusting your feed. A recommendation that leads to a sold-out product is a bad recommendation. Fix it by keeping inventory accurate in real time.
6. You're not connected to the AI shopping pipe
Shopify's catalog connection with partners like OpenAI is a direct path for your data to reach ChatGPT. If it's available and off, you're leaving a lane closed. Fix it by turning on the connection after your feed is complete.
7. Your content answers nothing directly
ChatGPT lifts direct answers. If your pages bury the point in paragraph five, there's nothing clean to quote. Fix it by leading with the answer and adding FAQ blocks with real questions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does ChatGPT ignore my products specifically?
Almost always because the data is thin, vague, or unreadable. ChatGPT recommends products it can parse and match, so incomplete feeds and empty schema are the usual cause.
How fast can I fix this?
Feed and title fixes can start today, but AI systems need to recrawl and sync before changes show. Expect days to a few weeks for the effect to appear.
Do I need to be a Shopify Plus store?
No. There's no size gate to be recommended. Complete data and clean schema get any store into the running.
How do I confirm the fix worked?
Test the same buyer questions in ChatGPT before and after your changes. If you start appearing where you didn't, the fix landed.
