Your Shopify store is invisible to AI when assistants can't read your data, can't confirm your facts, or can't reach your pages. Here are ten signs, updated for late 2026, with a fix for each.
This expands our earlier 9-signs guide with one more check and fresher fixes. If a few of these sound familiar, that's not bad news. It's a to-do list.
1. AI never names your store
Ask ChatGPT or Perplexity the questions your buyers ask. If only competitors show up, you're invisible on the surfaces that are growing.
Fix: log every miss and treat that list as your roadmap.
2. You have no Product schema
Without valid Product markup, a model guesses from raw HTML and usually gets too little to trust.
Fix: add clean Product and Offer markup to your top sellers first.
3. Your price loads late or lives in an image
If a model can't read the price plainly, it can't confirm the offer and moves on.
Fix: state price in Offer markup so it's machine-readable on first pass.
4. Your stock status is stale
A wrong in-stock flag breaks trust the moment a shopper acts on it, so assistants stop recommending you.
Fix: sync availability to real inventory and keep it current.
5. Your pages don't answer questions
Assistants pull answers. Pages full of marketing copy give them nothing clean to quote.
Fix: add plain, direct answers and an FAQ with FAQPage markup.
6. You block AI crawlers
One line in your robots.txt can wall you off from the assistants you want.
Fix: confirm AI crawlers aren't disallowed. Easiest win on this list.
7. Your titles are clever, not clear
A model matches on plain description. A brand-poetry title loses the match, per the Google Merchant spec.
Fix: write titles the way a buyer says the product out loud.
8. You have no reviews or trust signals
Thin, anonymous pages read as risk. Assistants lean toward stores that look legitimate.
Fix: add review data and clear contact details where they're genuine.
9. Your brand naming is inconsistent
Different brand names across pages and schema confuse a model about who you are.
Fix: standardize your brand name across HTML metadata and Product markup.
10. You've never measured AI visibility
If you only track Google rankings, you can't see what ChatGPT and Google AI recommend.
Fix: add a monthly habit of asking assistants your buyers' questions and logging the results.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my Shopify store is invisible to AI?
Ask AI assistants the questions your buyers use. If only competitors appear, you're likely invisible. Common causes are missing Product schema, unreadable price, stale stock, unanswerable content, blocked crawlers, and never measuring AI visibility at all.
What's the fastest fix if AI can't see my store?
Check your robots.txt for blocked AI crawlers first, it's the easiest win. Then add valid Product and Offer schema to your top sellers and make sure price and availability are machine-readable and current.
How is this different from the 9-signs checklist?
This is an expanded 2026 update. It adds a tenth sign, never measuring AI visibility, and refreshes the fixes for each sign to match how assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI read stores now.
